Kids and parents have fun in our office. We see many children and provide a wider variety of dental services for kids than average. The only pediatric dental service not available right in our office is orthodontics. If you are interested in orhtodontics, we can provide you with a screening, necessary x-rays, and referal to an orthodontist we know well and trust.

flouride treatment for children - preventative gentle dental care Parents can be as involved with their children's dental experience as they wish. The first impression of our office space may be viewing the kids play area through the glass window. We have a special area in reception where kids can play while siblings or parents are receiving gentle dental care. This also allows Mom or Dad the chance to enjoy a cup of coffee, tea or water, and read a magazine in a comfortable chair in a residential setting. Maybe the fireplace will even be flickering.

As a childrens dentist, we encourage the parents to accompany their child and sit right in the treatment room if they wish or let their child be taken care of by our experienced team. We take a cognicent approach to interacting with each patient here. In dental services for kids, this many times means using a technique called "tell-show-do".

We tell what will happen so there are no surprises, show the appropriate tooth toys to familiarize on a hands-on level, and only then do anything. We have learned through study and experience that having a meaningful conversation helps greatly to build a relationship of respect and comfort with children and dental care.

We also let kids know that if they experience anything that feels like a pinch or even just have a question - all they need to do is raise their hand. If they raise their hand, we will stop and address any concern they may have.

This is actually the same way we treat adults: only for kids, we use a slightly different language (e.g. "Mr. Thirsty") and adults do not usually get a balloon or toy after being a good helper. As a parent, you will be surprised at how dentistry has improved since you were a child, regarding techniques as well as empathy.
